Old English: Sanctuary (formed from the words "holy" and "work" thus what goes on in a sanctuary.) This is my sanctuary for writing on religion, academics, and the other things that ground my life.

I saw Sweeney Todd over the holidays too. So what did you think of it?

So how does a headless horseman mock you over your dissertation?

You drove me to it: OED says "poodle" comes from the German "pudelhund" meaning "a dog who splashes in the water". I'm sure it must have something to do with Anglo-Saxon baptism by immersion, don't you think?

But then again, to paraphrase Freud, "Sometimes a black poodle is only a black poodle!"

On the other hand, my psychological fantasies fly....

Warm welcome back!
